There was a time when Zimbabwe was the breadbasket of Africa. Those days are long gone along with the large commercial farms that were the backbones of that basket. Instead, small farms that are mostly subsistent in nature have cropped up. Some large commercial operations operated by passionate farmers still exist, however. On these farms irrigation is often necessary and thanks to ZESA power woes and fuel shortages that can be a problem.

Given how the country receives plenty of sunshine even in the summer and winter months a lot of savvy farmers are now turning to large solar power plants. Below are a couple of videos showcasing some of these farms.
