There is a message doing rounds on social media purporting to show next week’s fuel prices. It claims diesel will be $18.25 and petrol will be selling for $17.86. It attributes these prices changes to changes in the effective exchange rate.

Well, it’s just an elaborate sad hoax according to the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority:

ZERA wishes to advise consumers that there is a fake fuel price list circulating on social media purporting to be effective on 14 Oct’ 19. The official fuel price changes are only shared on official ZERA social media handles twitter: @zeraenergy
