The Zimbabwe Republic Police has brushed off as a fake a notice that says that they are asking for receipts for goods coming from South Africa in case they were looted. It’s not clear exactly who is behind the fake notice but the ZRP speculates it might be robbers. The robbers could be laying the groundwork so that they can go about setting up fake roadblocks and robbing people.

The ZRP dismisses an article circulating on social media on looting of goods in South Africa which is accompanied by a ZRP logo. The public should take note that the ZRP has not issued this statement. In this regard, the public should ignore the false and fake message.

While we condemn looting in South Africa, communication from the ZRP will come through the usual channels.
