According to leading Zimbabwean blog, Zimlive, the current minister of energy, Fortune Chasi reportdly wrote a letter instructing ZESA to drop charges against Wicknell Chivayo. This follows Mr Chivayo’s failure to construct a 100 MW solar power plant near Gwanda according to a multi-million dollar deal he had signed with ZESA. Mr Chivayo had received millions of dollars from the state power utility before commencing work. To date the solar plant has never been built.
