We have been saying this countless times about the current strict lockdown: it is very one sided. While people have been saddled with all sorts of responsibilities including some sectors having to either close early or stay at home, the government gets a pass. One area where this is apparent is the transport issue. We keep writing about how ZUPCO does not have the capacity to timeously transport urban commuters to and from work because it’s true.

Yesterday scores of people were caught in the curfew dragnet as they waited patiently for ZUPCO buses according to reports. Instead of being understanding and allowing them to wait for what is a result of the government’s own failures, baton wielding police mercilessly chased them out of town as they ran on foot stampeding over one another.
