Some millers have testified before the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee today saying that some “big well-connected millers” are now exporting scarce roller meal to the Democratic Republic of Congo even as shortages in Zimbabwe persist with a lot of Zimbabweans going hungry as they fruitlessly queue for nothing.
GMAZ also denied receiving government funds
The Grain Millers Association has also rubbished claims made by Gokwe MP, Mayor Wadyajena who alleged that GMAZ received a grant/loan of US$27 million in government grant for grain procurement.
We learnt with shock and disbelief of a statement by the Portfolio Committee Chair, on his personal Twitter account, that GMAZ is snubbing Parliament with regards to account for USD27M.
For the record, GMAZ has never received a loan, grant or any financial assistance from Government or Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
