Even though we noted that there has been an improvement of mealie-meal in shops one thing is clear, there is still a shortage of affordable mealie-meal as a lot of people simply cannot afford the prices that most shops are not asking.
Subsidised mealie-meal is very much in short supply. Its distribution has been chaotic with a lot of people queuing up in the wee hours of the morning and yet having to go back home empty-handed.
As a result, fights have become common in these lines as people quickly lose their tempers. Here is a video of one such fight between two men.
