Today is the beginning of a new year it, however, seems Zimbabweans will have to contend with the old problems that plagued them in 2019. The government has just announced that Zimbabweans will have to pay more, much more in 2020 for the healthcare they receive from government hospitals.
This means that starting today 1 January Zimbos have to contend with more than just doctor’s strikes and a dilapidated health system when it comes to worrying about theirs and their loved ones’ health.
The New Hospital Fees: General Wards
- At Parirenyatwa Hospital General Ward
- Adults will pay $200.00
- Children below the age of 5 will pay $100.00
- Central Hospitals the fees will be:
- $160.00 for adults
- $80.00 for children
- At Provincial Hospitals:
- Adults will have to pay $120.00 and
- Children$60
- At District/General Hospitals the fees will be
- $80.00 for adults and
- $40.00 for children
New Maternity Feeds
Expecting parents will also have to pay more starting today:
- Ante-natal (before the baby comes) General Ward per day:
- Parirenyatwa Hospital – $200.00;
- Central Hospitals – $160.00;
- Provincial Hospitals – $120.00; District/General Hospitals – $80.00
- Post-natal, General Ward per day:
- Parirenyatwa Hospital – $200.00;
- Central Hospitals – $160.00;
- Provincial Hospitals – $120.00;
- District/General Hospitals – $80.00.
- Caesarian:
- Parirenyatwa Hospital – $2 500.00;
- Central Hospitals – $2 500.00;
- Provincial Hospitals – $1 500.00;
- District/General Hospitals – $1 000.
- Normal Vertex Delivery:
- Parirenyatwa Hospital – $600.00;
- Central Hospitals – $600.00;
- Provincial Hospitals – $360.00;
- District/General Hospitals – $240.00
