The City of Harare has been struggling with two things, raising revenue to fund service provision and restoring order to its besieged streets so they decided to kill two birds with one stone, apparently. The City has raised it’s clamping and parking fees.

From now onwards expect to pay the following fees within Harare CBD:

  • If you want to park for 30 minutes expect to pay $3 per 30 minutes
  • For an hour you will have to part with $5

There is nothing new about those charges as they have been in effect since the latest City budget was adopted. However, a lot of people have been accused of not paying and so the clamping fees have been increased to $500 ZWL. Apparently the current rate was $40 ZWL!
