It seems Zimbabwe’s most talked about gold coins are already in circulation. This is despite the fact that the RBZ’s communique on the notes had given a release date of 25 July which is still a couple of weeks away. There have been several pictures and a video which seem to show the coins already being handled by various people. In the video below, an unnamed individual flaunts his gold coins mocking people for being slow to buy into the idea. Given our estimated value of the coins, he has about US$16 000 on that table. That is a buy-in not many Zimbabweans can afford.
