We all knew it was coming when Econet warned subscribers that they were going to review data bundle prices on 4 February (today). Review has always been the weak code for we are going to sjambok you with another data price hike and now they have gone and done it despite some weak warnings from POTRAZ yesterday.

POTRAZ claimed that they had not yet approved a tariff hike causing confusion in the process. It is highly doubtiful that Econet would have defied POTRAZ. What is more likely is that there is some sort of confusion at POTRAZ or it being the government there is some of sort of political grandstanding. We have contacted someone at POTRAZ via back-channels and will post a response if we get one.
