A picture of the latest blood price or fees by the National Blood Service Zimbabwe has set tongues wagging on social media with some claiming this is one of the reasons they no longer donate blood. According to the fee list patients will need to part with a shocking $10 150 ZWL. To say that is well beyond the reach of many is an understatement.

Some lamented the fact that when ordinary people need blood they struggle to get any even when it’s available due to corruption.

This is why I no longer donate blood. I used to give blood in high school and got badges and stuff. But after my cousin got sick we struggled to get blood with nurses dropping hints that we needed to pay a bribe in addition to the already exorbitant fee.
