The Zimbabwean government has had something that other countries such as South Africa never had-months to prepare. Despite being spared by the first wave as it took a devastating toll accross the world and in South Africa, Zimbabwe seems to have rested on its laurels. There is a chronic shortage of basic medicine, PPEs, nurses, doctors, ventilators and now it seems there is a shortage of food too.

ZimMorning Post went inside Zimbabwe’s hyped facility and took some photos. The ones that stood out are the meals of photos that patients have had to endure. According to WHO guidelines patients have to eat healthy in order to aid their recovery but the meals being served at Parirenyatwa’s Covid-19 facility leave a lot to be desired. It’s especially galling when one remembers that the Health Services Board bought itself top of the range vehicles this year, yes during the pandemic.
